Want to start using the API but can't find where the API key actually lives in the dashboard.

It's under Settings > API & Webhooks — click “Generate API Key” if you don't have one yet. Keep in mind it's only shown in full once at creation time; after that we only display the last 4 characters for identification, so save it somewhere secure (a password manager, not a plain text file) as soon as you generate it.
