Does the API support custom merge fields?

#56 Resolved
Jennifer W. 14 days ago

We have several custom contact fields (industry, deal size, etc). Can these be set and read through the API, or only through CSV import?

Brian Campbell Staff 14 days ago

Yes, custom fields are fully supported through the API — they show up as a custom_fields object on the contact resource, both when creating/updating a contact and when reading one back. Field keys need to match exactly what's configured in Settings > Custom Fields (case-sensitive), otherwise the API will reject the field as unrecognized rather than silently creating a new one.
