License renewal failed, card was declined

#70 Resolved
Susan L. 137 days ago

Got a notice that my annual renewal payment failed. The card should be valid, I use it for other things regularly. Now worried about losing access.

No need to worry about immediate loss of access — there's a grace period before anything is disabled. A declined renewal is often just the card issuer flagging an unfamiliar recurring charge, especially for annual (rather than monthly) billing since it's a larger, less frequent amount. Try updating your payment method under Settings > Billing and retrying the charge; if it declines again, a quick call to your card issuer confirming the charge is legitimate usually clears it.

Called the bank, they said they flagged it as unusual and it should go through now. Retried the payment and it succeeded this time. Thanks for the reassurance, was worried I'd lose everything mid-renewal.

Glad it's sorted — and to be clear, even in a worst case a failed renewal never deletes your data or account, it just pauses sending until payment goes through, so there was never a risk of losing anything permanently.
