Some contacts aren't importing from my CSV export

#16 Closed
Patricia R. 25 days ago

Imported a list of 500 contacts and only 480 came through, no error shown. The missing ones all seem to have accented characters in their names (Müller, José, etc). Is that related?

Very likely yes — this is the same underlying issue as this earlier thread on CSV encoding, just showing up as silently skipped rows instead of a hard error this time (depends on exactly how the bad bytes land). Re-saving the file explicitly as UTF-8 from a plain text editor, rather than however it was originally exported, should bring those rows back in on re-import.

Re-saved as UTF-8 and re-imported — all 500 came through this time. Thanks for pointing me at the right fix.
