What's new in 8
SubsiMail 8 is built for agencies and anyone who runs outreach for more than one company: one install, one login and one URL, with a separate workspace for every client. Nothing changes for a single-company install except a menu entry you can ignore.
Workspaces
A workspace keeps one client's contacts, lists, campaigns, mailboxes, templates, saved searches, webhooks, API keys, inbox and dashboard completely apart from every other workspace. Switch between them from the menu at the top of the left sidebar. Two things are shared on purpose: the people (one login for everyone) and the knowledge that an address hard-bounced — a dead address is dead for every client. Unsubscribes and spam complaints stay inside the workspace they came from.
Full guide: Workspaces.
One license per workspace
Each workspace has its own plan, billing cycle and license token, managed on your subsimail.com account. Two workspaces are free; the second paid workspace is 20% off and every one after that 10% off, monthly or yearly. Add a workspace in SubsiMail by pasting its token under Workspaces. See Pricing & billing and License & domain binding.
People and roles
- Roles are per workspace — admin in one, view-only in another. A super admin has every workspace.
- Access on the Team page sets a person's role in each workspace; people only see (and can only switch to) the workspaces they are given. Admins can only grant access to workspaces they administer.
- When someone leaves: remove them from a workspace, pause them (blocks sign-in everywhere until re-enabled), or archive them (hidden, email free to reuse, optional hand-over of what they created). Admins and super admins can also change a person's sign-in email.
See Roles explained and Managing members.
Several Google and Microsoft apps
A workspace can hold several Google or Microsoft OAuth apps, so you can connect Gmail or Outlook accounts from different organisations — each connected account remembers which app it came through. For Gmail we now strongly recommend SMTP/IMAP with a Google App Password instead: no 7-day reconnecting and no audit. See Connect Gmail and Connect Outlook.
Tracking on its own port
Open, click and unsubscribe links are served by a tracking-only listener (port 3001 by default) that contains none of the app. Expose that port publicly and keep the login on your VPN. Each workspace can have its own tracking domain, and Check my tracking domain on your account confirms it works from the internet. See Tracking domain & VPN.
One license, one install
A license now runs on one SubsiMail install at a time. Restoring a database backup keeps working (the install's identity travels with the database). If you move to a fresh server, use Release this install on the workspace's License card or wait a day. See License troubleshooting.
REST API
An API key now belongs to the workspace it was created in and acts only there; create a key in each workspace you want to automate. Everything else is unchanged. See API overview.
Upgrading from 7.x
Nothing special: docker compose pull && docker compose up -d, or replace the binary. Everything you have becomes the Default workspace, and your license, users and opt-outs move across automatically. Existing REST API keys keep working in the Default workspace. See Updating safely.
